Peacock Lane scheme

Exciting plans are being drawn up for a scheme on the old Southgates bus station site on Peacock Lane. Plans may include a luxury hotel and conference centre. This will be a much needed boost to a relatively forgotten side of the city centre. This scheme, along with the Cathedral Square nearby will make this a great leisure and business destunation.

For more on this new scheme see the Leicester Mercury article.

Are things on the up again, literally?

Signs of picking up?

For the first time in ages, a new development in the city has started with the redevelopment of the former Abbey Mills on Abbey Park Road. There's a lot of demolition going on at the moment, though hopefully the site won't stay empty and barren like others dotted around the city centre.

Does this mean the other proposed developments further up the same road will also begin? Hopefully.

Cathedral Square

The Diocese of Leicester are planning to transform the area around the cathedral with plans for a new diocese centre (former Leicester Grammar School building) and a new public Square on Peacock Lane. This will bring a much needed boost to this pretty, yet relatively undiscovered part of the city.
